“Moment 01”

Joseph Beuys and “Capri Battery”, with the lemon and the light, has been used as the logo of the initiative,  on each image and picture of  “Moments” in Sabina: “moments”  have  taken  place  in  the  beautiful  Castle  of  Montenero, in the projection room of the Castle of Mompeo, in the Municipal Theatre of Casaprota and in the Palazzo del Gatto (Cat’s Palace) in Casaprota, with a breath-taking view garden and the cellar keeping past secrets, graced by a dedication of Luis Sepúlveda; but also in the bar, in the square, and at the library of the three municipalities, while mingling with local citizens.

A  well-organized program was never finalised, whoever asked for a program, was replied: “the program, we create it together”.

Improvisations, on the spot interventions, walks through the nature – with the underground music of Gnac and Howie B – shooting by the director Emiliano  Montanari, with sharp and unfocused zooming; 

intense monologues in the castles, among which the one with Brunella Antomarini, enchanting  writer and philosopher;   

the  “New Afghanistan” on Monte Tancia, poetically and symbolically  founded  with the princess  Soraya  Malek of Afghanistan;

the “New Jerusalem”, where you get by leaving the main road and turn down to a path towards the unknown;

on its walls, that remind the sacred place, painters’ canvas and Russian marionettes strings hanging;

Massimo  Sgroi, author of Pepe Mujica biography, gave the hope that politics can be different; movies by Wim Wenders (Until the End of the World) and Sebastiano Salgado (The Salt of Life), evoked powerful aesthetic experiences;

the jacket of the designer Fabio Quaranta, who hanged it at a hook at the entrance of the Castle of Montenero, becoming the Keeper; “Moments” of poetry  and  beauty  with  Riccardo  Duranti;

readings under the  oak at the restaurant “The  Oak” with Guido  Accascina and his 21 points at 21.21 of September 21;

artworks left in the nature, such as “Save the Bees” by Guido Gazzilli and artists with clothes painted like pictures performed as becoming part of the trees;

the documentary “Ethos” by the director Berardo  Carboni, the coloured  carpets  randomly  scattered on the  floor, while Guendalina Salini walked across, reciting verses; artworks in the quarry, in the night, walking with a flashlight, among the dust and the white stones, accompanied by the moon; 

from the top of the castle, peering out from Montenero Castle, Gianni  Politi canvas, lying on a brickwork made by the mayor;

all moments pointed by instagram  videos of Vanessa Beecroft, Priscilla Tea and Mai Ueda; 

by  the artoworks of  Joseph Kossuth and the Hong Kong “on fire” by Ai Wei Wei, and also the Amazon on fire; 

the BlackBerry paintings by Miltos Maneta, who brushed the curves of the Montenero mountains, filming it through the blackberry; 

the “Moment” “Father and Daughter”, with Marco Aroldi who temporarily dropped his  farmer  toils  and  displayed  his  handicraft  jewellery,  while  his  daughter Sabina, stitched on a board her drawings showing what is climate change for her;

whatsapp connections have taken place with the  Climate Reality Project “Leaders”:  with Giovanni Lo Coco from Palermo, while “Retake” and his volunteers were cleaning up the beach of Vergine Maria; 

with Paola Fiore and Domenico  Vito from Milan at the “Climate  Week  Symposium”,  with  Simona Fabiani at CGIL in Rome; 

with Roberta Centonze from Berlin at the second international  conference “Our Climate, our Future“, Helmotz Climate Initiative; and Celeste Righi Ricco at the exhibition BLAU by Elia Festa, plastics in the oceans.

The  overreality presence of  the major current social leaders with Pepe Mujica, Yanis Varoufakis, Greta Thurberg, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Kuki Gallmann and Al Gore; and also Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone,  better  known as San Francesco. 

Meetings  and  discussions were held with the  mayors and the  assessors of the three municipalities, talking about the environment and the urgency of continuing working together.

Particularly Paola  Fiore, National Coordinator of the Climate Reality Project, Team Italy came to the event and opened up a very good dialogue with the Mayor of Montenero, Ivano de Angelis, for continuing the collaboration with concrete actions in the sustainability path.  

The real success of “Moment  01” has been having people switching their way of thinking: as the local officials were initially puzzled at the special timings proposed for the events, during the week they called in suggesting the next appointment at 15.15 or 16.16. 

Something had changed. Levelling up their mind-sets onto something new; it is from this change that we want to re-start, re- thinking the environment in a different way. “Moment 01” as 0 is infinite and 1 is the beginning of something new. 

Indeed the prologue of “Moment 01” catalogue has no closing paragraph nor sentence, it only says “to be continued’, as a half-closed door to be opened up towards new spaces: something new ahead.
